The Killers or Zeppelin?
I recently read on Ultimate-guitar.com that The Killers feel like they are being held down here in America. They blame this on bands from the past such as Led Zeppelin and Nirvana. Now The Killers are looking to knock them of their pedestals so to speak. Well the way I see it is they can cry all they want about being held back, but that isn't going to change the way people think about Zeppelin or Nirvana. Maybe it isn't other bands you should be blaming, maybe you're not as good as you think. Not saying The Killers are a bad band, but face facts, Zeppelin are gods in the music world, and Nirvana was a revolutionary grunge band. They both accomplished great things in their time, and until you do something great you'll just be another band in crowd. And when and if that time comes you still won't stand out from Zeppelin because you just don't have the skill. Your lead singer can't compete with Plant, and your guitarist along with many others, cannot compete with Page. It's simple. When you can write and play like Zeppelin, then you might be able to say you're on the same level...might be able to say that, but as far I'm concerned, it won't happen.

This is true, I think the Killers are dece, but there is much better alt rock then The Killers. Check out The Muse, Silversun Pickups, The Raconteurs, ect. They're much better and more worthy of Zeppelin like status in my opinion. Not to mention modern music just doesn't have the quality equipment like the old groups used. Everything now is very crisp perfect and digital. Plant and Page didn't have that on their stuff, they had to do all sorts of crazy things to get their sounds. There's a rumor on a Zeppelin track, to get a certain reverb they played in a big old corridor of a castle, and no one else has been able to get it right like that since.
Also Zeppelin wasn't big during their time, they've grown into what they have now. No band just starts out with a massive following, at one point all groups are little indie rock bands, four dudes in the garage passin joints and jammin out. People seem to forget this. Nirvana was a passing thing, Not really something to shoot for in my opinion. Had they not lost their lead singer so tragically, maybe they could've kept the ball rolling and made the ninties change even further.
